Act1 Scene 5. The First King Solomon appearance.

Me: Oh, what do you want?

KS: J'accuse, graham. J’accuse u.

G: Of what?

KS: Plagiarism

G: What?

KS: All this talk of nihilism, grey.  Meaningless, meaningless, utterly meaningless. U ever heard that before?

G: Once or twice, yeah.

KS: Well, before Punk, before Nietzsche, before DeSade, before them all, I wrote this, 3000 years ago:

"The words of the teacher, son of David, king of Jerusalem.

G: (to the audience) King Solomon.....

KS: Meaningless, meaningless, says the teacher, utterly meaning-less. Everything is meaningless.

What does man gain from all his labour, that which he toils under the sun. Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north. Round and round it goes, ever-returning in its course.

Me: That’s just like Nietzsche’s eternal re-occurrence of events. The Vicious circles of .....

KS: Except I wrote that 3000 years ago. I can do ego, grey. All things are wearisome.

G: Tell me about it

KS: More than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, or the ear enough of hearing.

What has been, will be again, what has been done will be done again

There is nothing new under the sun.

Me: what u wrote that?

KS: Yeah.

Me: I thought that was Genghis Khan.

KS: No it was me.

G: So why are you here? To torment me? Ridicule Me?

KS: No. To help you.

G: How?

KS: For one thing. Stop thinking, so much. Listen. "Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly but I learned that this too, is a chasing after the wind. For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge the more grief."

G: Weren't u supposed to be the wisest man in the world or something?

KS: yes.

G: So, why are you saying that?

KS: Cos that’s where it ends and starts.....ends and starts. That’s what I discovered. (Pause). I understand your frustration. So go on your trip. Your quest.

G: Quest! That’s a bit of a cliché, isn't it?

KS: And keep a journal whilst you do it.

G: Keep a journal? That’s just self-indulgent. What do you think I’m that up myself?

KS: Yeah. Your ego is way out of control. It'll b cathartic for u.

G: There's no point. Besides, I don't even know what I’m looking for.

KS: Follow the spirit.

G: The spirit of what?

KS: the spirit of the times

G: Luke. Oh, that’s so star wars. Now look who’s a plagiarist?

KS: See. There is nothing new under the sun.

G: Whatever. Now leave me alone. Please.

KS: For a while, grey. But I won't b far; just remember: There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the sun, a time to tear and a time to mend.....a time to love and a time to hate....a time to live and a time to die......a time for war and a time for peace.....

G; To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season, turn, turn,....a time for...gather in stones etc.. The Byrds.

KS: Ecc 3. Vs1 to 8. First. 3000 years before. Get in.

G: Yeah, yeah.

WANDERS OFF INTO THE NIGHT. LIGHTS DOWN.
